Proposition 3: Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning.
Rationale:
Artifact 1 is an iMovie student portfolio that has been produced to help track and guide the performance of student fitness testing. This student portfolio is established to guide the personal growth and give students the ability to watch form, technique as well as improvements over time. The indicators in Proposition 3 aligned with this artifact include:
1. Know how to assess the progress of individual as well as the class as a whole.
2. They use multiple methods for measuring student growth and understanding, and they can clearly explain student performance to parents.

Reflection:
Looking into this project we are excited as a group to see how the student portfolios can inspire and engage students in the fitness gram testing. This is my first student portfolio to produce as a trial but I look forward to implementing this school wide in the middle school next year. Students will produce their own portfolio video with all of the fitness gram testing. This will provide them an opportunity to work on form and technique as well as personal improvements in strength and flexibility. Teachers will have the opportunity to view the videos and make a full assessments for each student. This is sometimes difficult to do live as observational assessments can only be done one student at a time. As the individual students are assessed through their portfolio the teacher can then chart the class as a whole. Using this strategy the teacher will also be able to share the student performance with the parents at home as a link to their child’s testing.
